Very Late SxSW Update

Since January, I had planned on going to SxSW with some friends.  Buuut, my stupid stinkin car got towed... twice the week before taking all of my spending money for the trip.  I thought I wouldn't be able to go and my heart was broken.  I guess the stars wouldn't let me miss out, though.  Some other friends invited me to stay with their family about an hour outside of Austin for the last weekend.  We weren't able to attend any shows, partly cause we were all super broke, but we somehow got invited to a mansion party.  Yes, a mansion party!  Two nights in a row!!  So, I mean this had to be fate, right?
Friday night we made the journey to unknown territory, took winding roads, and found ourselves in one of the most beautiful houses I had ever stepped foot in.  The entire living room was glass so that the entire Austin skyline was visible from the couch.  There was an infinity that had the same astonishing view.  To make matters worse, some of my new fave artists were there too! Chiddy Bang, Mac Miller, The Cool Kids, The Fly Guys, and even Kendrick Lamar.  We met and had conversations with all of them.  The night was untoppable. We somehow ended up on the roof with Kendrick Lamar and friends.  No idea how we got up there, let alone down from there. The whole night was sponsored by some Asian inspired liquor, Tyku. Here are some sneaky photos from night 1.

Beautiful right? And idk if you can tell, but that bottle is glowing! It lit up when picked up. Pretty cool.  Either way, the second night was not quite as epic, but Wiz Khalifa and Trae tha Truth were shooting a video then.  I saw Wiz and Amber Rose. I wasn't able to meet them though.  After the shoot, they started playing a Lil B.  I'm not a fan. So, I threw a bit of a fit asking why they would poison my ears with such horrendous sounds.  Yeah, it was because Lil B was there, like seven feet away from me.  Oh well.
While in Austin, I did visit 6th St.  It was a bit lackluster to me, but I'm willing to give it another chance, hopefully someday soon.  Anyway, shots from night 2.

All in all, Austin has won my heart.  It's raw and grittiness combined with the fantastical nights in the mansion made for the perfect balance.  I can't wait to go back.
